Why Pricing Works This Way
MD Watchdog exists to keep medical devices honest. That mission only works if anyone, a nurse, an engineer, a patient, can report a non-compliant device without paying a cent. So the free tier is not a trial; it is the product, and it always will be.
But some reporters are companies, and for them speed is the whole point. If a competitor's device lacks CE marking, clinical evidence, or UDI registration, every month of delay is a month of competing against someone who skipped the costs you paid. Expedited review exists for that situation: a qualified QM/RA professional picks up your evidence within days and, if it holds up, a formal complaint is filed with the relevant authority.
Speed is the only thing for sale. The conclusion of the review is never for sale, on either tier.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pay to submit a complaint?
No. Submitting a complaint is always free, and there is no paywall anywhere in the submission flow. Expedited review is an optional upgrade offered inside the app after your complaint has been submitted.
Who is expedited review for?
Mostly medical device companies. If a competitor is selling a non-compliant device, every month it stays on the market is a month you compete against someone skipping the costs of compliance. Expedited review gets a qualified professional on your evidence within days instead of months.
Does paying guarantee that a complaint gets filed?
No. Payment buys speed and dedicated attention, not an outcome. Every complaint, free or expedited, is filed only if a qualified professional concludes the evidence supports it. We do not file weak complaints for anyone.
Where does the money go?
Expedited fees fund the initiative: reviewer time, infrastructure, and the legal costs of filing complaints. MD Watchdog remains volunteer-led and sponsor-funded; expedited review helps keep the free queue free.
